We're going out for steak dinners and we're finishing in the top five and we're third in points and everything's great.
The whole team is really excited about going to Dover this weekend, ... We feel strong about another top-five finish and possibly a win. You never know what could happen with tires and pit stops, but we definitely feel confident about a top five.
I tell you what, it was a great run for our National Guard car, ... The thing ran flawless all day. I'll finish second to Mark Martin any day of the week. He drove his butt off out there and made two tires work.
Just 10 points a race isn't going to do it, and what are the chances of me finishing second for the next six races? We can only do as good as we can do and can't really worry about the outcome of the 20.
We just have to make up points on the 20, ... We made up a little bit on the 48 today and a little bit on the 12, but we've got to finish more than one spot ahead of the 20 to gain anything on him. But those guys are doing a good job. They're in a point's mode and that's what they're doing.
That's not too bad considering what happened to us today, ... We just did what we could and that was all we could do. It was a tough day, but we kind of came back from it and finished 13th. The car wasn't as good as it was in the spring, but it was pretty decent. We just couldn't quite get it done.
This is what we need to do. It's championship form right here. We wanted to win, but we came here and led a lot of laps and ran real strong and finished second. It just goes to show how solid this race team is.
His car was similar to mine when he won Atlanta versus me finishing third, and it was just who was in front. It was merely track position at the end of the race, so he's got the ability to drive the race cars.
I don't see a lot of people getting involved in stuff. Everybody's got the focus of getting a good finish and all that.
We just missed that win by a little bit, ... What we needed to do was get a good top 10 and that's what we did. I think we had the right strategy. I was gambling on a caution flag. If the caution would have come out, we would have had four skins and been able to put it to them.
We weren't going to catch them without a caution flag. We had to stay out because we had used up all of our sets of tires.
We weren't going to catch them without a caution flag.
We were pretty confident coming I here and we're still confident that we'll be able to make our way towards the front, ... It just depends on what the 20 does. If he passes all his stuff and nothing happens, it's tough when you only two spots in front of him to gain any points.
We got ourselves into a little hole in Daytona. But I have no doubt this team will turn it around this weekend.
