ball bat excited good joining swings
He swings the bat and we can use every good bat we can get. I'm very excited about him joining the ball club.
angels balls complete expected good ground strikes threw throw
He threw a lot of strikes and got a lot of ground balls. I really expected him to throw a complete game. But the Angels have an awfully good ballclub and you have to keep them down when they are down.
behind bob dan game wilson wins
I don't see how Bob Wolcott wins that game had Dan Wilson not been behind the plate.
aggressive base envelope gets good key lead pushes stealing
He's not the fastest, but he's a good, aggressive base runner. He gets a good lead and when he commits to stealing a base, he really commits. He pushes the envelope and that's the key to his success.
drive gets hit pitch
He's not going to hit 30 or 35 homers, but when he gets his pitch he can hit it out. He can drive the ball.
best dwight far furthest kids pitcher
He's got a lot on the ball. He's the best young pitcher I've ever seen. I didn't see Dwight Gooden when he was young, but of all the young kids I've seen, he's by far the furthest along.
control innings talk
I'm not going to talk about the umpire. Let's talk about something we can control, ... The first two innings were very non-typical of his outings this year.
few good guys pleased step threw waiting woods
I'm especially pleased with the way Woods threw the ball. And Gonzalez. It's good to see those guys step up. We've been waiting for it for a few weeks, and it's still not too late.
certainly coming side spring talk
If you talk to Jeremy, he'll tell you that offensively he's disappointed. He certainly was not what we had anticipated coming out of Spring Training, but on the other side of it, defensively he has been outstanding, more than what we had anticipated.
ball blowing good homer wind
I know the wind was blowing out, but that ball was spanked, so it probably would have been a homer regardless. And that's good to see.
bragging common deep flowery love tells trying
I'm really trying not to go off the deep end bragging about this guy. I'd love to tell you the flowery things I'm thinking, but common sense tells me I shouldn't go down that road.
middle pitch ryan threw waist
The first two innings, every pitch Ryan threw was down the middle and waist high.
couple rest settled struggling throwing trouble typical
The first couple of innings, he was struggling with his mechanics. He had trouble throwing strikes. It was not typical of his outings so far, but to his credit, he settled down and pitched very well the rest of the way.
