ball behind falling four hitting plain throwing walking
He (Franklin) was throwing the ball well for four innings, then he started nibbling. When he did that he started falling behind and walking people. Then they started hitting him, plain and simple.
game level pitch
He'll pitch at least one simulated game and probably a 'B' game. We want to get him to the 50- to 55-pitch level before he leaves.
everyday hitter jeremy leading
He'll get some but it's not going to be an everyday thing. I don't necessarily think that Jeremy is a leadoff hitter or we want him leading off.
might sandwich wearing
He might as well have been wearing a sandwich board, with 'Eat At Joe's' on one side, ... and 'I'm bunting' on the other.
came hardest hit
He came out of it OK. I told him that's the hardest he's hit anything all spring.
good jeremy matt plays swings switch time
Matt has been a good big-league player. We'll make the switch to get him some at-bats ... give Jeremy time to regroup. If Matt swings and plays the way Matt can, it will make things interesting.
aspects ball bases club lapse played sixth
I think all aspects of our ball club played well, we just had that one lapse in the sixth inning with the bases loaded.
arm believe confidence great honestly seeing strong
I honestly believe what we're seeing is Joel getting confidence and arm strength, ... We're just seeing him get strong and believe in that strength. He had a great changeup.
arm believe confidence gaining honestly seeing
I honestly believe what we're seeing is Joel gaining confidence and arm strength,
asked bet favorite gone guys mention poll taken
I haven't gone around and taken a poll -- and I won't -- but I would bet if you went out and asked all those guys about their favorite teammates, a lot of them would mention Kenji as one of them.
warming
I probably would not use him for more than one inning. And if I got him warming up in the bullpen, I'd want to get him in the game.
barely patty scale
On a scale of 1-10, this is barely a 1. This is patty cake.
guns people problem rather swinging swung walks wonder
After the walks some people will wonder why Carl swung at the first pitch, but I didn't have a problem with it. We had one of our big guns at the plate. I'd rather have him swinging there.
breaking good knew shown strikes thrown
He's thrown strikes when he's pitched. He's shown a good breaking ball, which we knew he had.
