expecting fastball good hoping slider threw throwing using
He threw as good as we were expecting and hoping he'd throw, ... He was throwing the fastball, using the fastball, locating the fastball and working off of that. Once he does that, his slider and changeup are unbelievable.
against needs quiet work
He's a quiet kid, and sometimes that's going to work against you. In the middle, you have to be vocal. And that's what I want him to understand. He needs to go down there and take control. Play as a quarterback, as you will.
baseman proven veteran work
He's a proven veteran out there. He and (second baseman Luis) Castillo work very well out there together.
brought everybody funny himself laughs
He's a pretty funny guy. He's brought about a lot of laughs already, so we're just going to let him play. He claps for himself and now he's got everybody clapping for him.
liked
He said Reinsdorf was squirming. I think he liked that.
faces man nice throw
Garza did fine. He's got a nice-looking arm. He's going to be a nice-looking pitcher. It's nice to get to see the young man throw the ball. You like to put faces with names.
kept
We kept playing. That's what this game's all about.
damage good help player
We think we've got a pretty good player here that is going to help us do some damage this year.
clubhouse flow good help nice people seems talented wait
We think we have some pretty talented people that can help us do the things we need to do, and they've been good out in the clubhouse up to this point. We'll wait and see. It's going to be a long year, but up to this point, it seems like there's a nice flow going.
bring talk
Why do you bring up his name? He's on that side. I don't want to talk about J.C.
bit less muscle people percent pulls season shoulder sore starting sudden talking types
To me, starting the season with people less than 100 percent is very, very scary. I'm not talking about a little bit of a sore shoulder or something you play through, but I'm talking about muscle pulls and those types of things. Those come back and all of a sudden you're out.
care close easy sit state
Torii's been very close to Puck. He was in no state to go out for a ballgame. I told him to sit back, take it easy and we'll take care of that game.
ball chance dagger guy throwing
We had a chance to put a dagger in them and take it to them. The guy is throwing the ball all over the place. We didn't get it done.
love
We'd all love to see him in the rotation, but that's just not where he's at. We'll use him out of the 'pen, because he's the only one we've got.
