best mean pitcher telling win
If he doesn't win the Cy Young, it doesn't mean he's not the best pitcher in this league. I'm telling you right now -- he's the best pitcher in the American League, no doubt.
ball bounce crystal knew threw worked
If he knew it was going to bounce right back to the catcher, he'd have a crystal ball. They threw a ball away and it still worked out for them.
bench coming cover everyday mind outfield playing puts ripping starts
If he starts ripping the cover off the ball, that always puts a thought in your mind to keep him. Playing everyday in the outfield is a better thing for him right now, so one thing I don't want is him here coming off the bench and being a pinch-hitter.
hoping popping starts
If he starts really popping his pitches, then he could be ready. That's what we're hoping for.
bit consistent definitely growing happened last learn solid tries
If he sits back and tries to learn something from what happened last year, then he can definitely get going and have a little bit more of a solid year. Just being a little more consistent that would be better for everybody. But that's just a part of growing up.
hitting later quite start sure
If everything comes back OK, then he will start hitting later in the week. Right now we're not quite sure where he's at.
answer ask care
I can't answer that question. You'll have to ask them. ... I know the ones who care and I think I know the ones who don't.
gotten life steroids taken
I could've taken steroids my whole life and never gotten 3,000 hits.
game played players talk understand younger
A lot of younger players didn't have as many ties, or any ties, with Puck, like some of us have. But they all still need to understand what he was all about and why we talk about him. He played the game the way we want to play the game.
days four sharp situations
You want to be able to put him in the game. You need to have those days where you can get him four at-bats here and four at-bats there to keep him sharp for late-inning situations and big pinch-hit situations.
fun seen watch work works
You want to work with that swing? I don't know what to tell him. I've never seen it before. So we say just go ahead, because I don't even know what he works on. I just watch him take B.P. and let him have fun and do it.
chew negative night screaming
You've got to look for some kind of positive. You can't be negative and screaming every night. You'll chew yourself up.
lay plenty proud
You've got to be proud of those guys. They had plenty of opportunities to lay down, and they never did.
hoping hurt
All we're hoping is that he doesn't hurt himself.
