along course games shown
Willy has shown that he can play in these big games all along the course of the season, ... He's come up big for us.
came last
When I thought we were going to take off, we didn't. When I thought we were going to crater, we didn't. We came down to the last game, and we did what we had to do.
bat bit chris good hot move playoff swinging
Well, I think Chris is swinging the bat pretty good right now and he has through these playoff games, ... Going with a little bit of a hot hand. This is only a move to do today. I haven't even thought about tomorrow.
aggressive ahead stay talked
We have talked about it and told him to stay aggressive with the pitches, stay ahead in the count. If he can do that, he'll win, but he can't live on the edge.
came carried last mike preference stretch wonderful year
I think Mike Gallo did a wonderful when he came back from Triple-A last year and carried us down the stretch as the only lefthander. It would be my preference to have two lefties, but that's not set in stone.
clutch good hit mike shown
I think Mike can hit good pitchers, and he's shown us for a year-and-a-half he can come through big in clutch situations.
good hit lamb situation
I think Lamb is a very good hitter, ... I've let Lamb hit in that situation many times.
clearly factor game trying work
I thought he was going to be able to pitch, but it clearly swelled up on him. I think it was probably a little factor in the game in the way he was trying to work with it.
composed seen
I thought he was as composed as I've ever seen him,
die game might until wait
I thought he might collapse, he's probably in the back right now sick. I told him he couldn't die on the field, he'd have to wait until after the game to die.
appreciate career fun guys phenomenal player seven shows six smart
I thought his career was about done, and that was about six or seven years ago. That shows how smart I am. ... He's been a phenomenal player and fun to watch...you appreciate what guys like him do for our game.
baggy ball bat good guy head hitting throwing zone
I thought his at-bat was a very good at-bat. His bat head was in the hitting zone on the ball he fouled back, and that's a good sign. The guy was throwing pretty good, was varying his speeds. Baggy was able to get the bat head out there.
ball breaking fifth fourth high himself innings point release trying zone
I thought in the fourth and fifth innings he really battled himself trying to find his release point and got high in the zone and couldn't get the breaking ball where he wanted to.
bat break days good mental might rolling swinging tough
I might not have done it had he been really swinging the bat well, but sometimes you need a mental break when you're having a tough stretch. Most of his days off will come on day games, but he will play on long stretches when he will be rolling good and won't get as many days off.
