builds certain fans hump suffering trying
There's something to be said for organizations that get here often; it builds a certain mystique. In our case, we thought we were getting over the hump once, but 20 years later, here we are still trying to get over that hump. We've had some suffering fans for 44 years.
fighting work
There's something to be said for getting there and not winning. It does have a sense that you're not finished, that there's work undone, that there's still something you're fighting for.
bridges gives goes great kept points several standpoint time
There's several great points from our standpoint in that game. It was Backe's first time back, and he kept us in the ballgame. And Wandy Rodriguez, who has been a starter, he goes out and gives us one inning and kind of bridges our bullpen.
good jeff player question reasons soon
There's no question that there's some sentimentality involved, ... There's a lot of other reasons to have him be the DH, but I think the overriding reason is he's a good player and if the game's on the line, I'd just as soon have Jeff Bagwell up.
answer becomes everybody gorilla innings nice question room scoring start talk team tries
There's no question that 600-pound gorilla was in the room that no one wanted to talk about. If you keep going innings without scoring runs, everybody tries to do too much in one at-bat, and that's when you start to get into trouble. That's when it becomes a team slump. It was nice to answer in the first inning.
control full glass half
Is the glass half full or half empty, ... It's half full. We control our own destiny.
next spoke time tomorrow whatever
I spoke with (Everett) and things are going well. I told him to take whatever time he needs. And that could be tomorrow or the next day or the next.
bat confidence help lamb lift longer morgan plus power quite saying seen starting step stretch swing time
I've been saying for quite some time now that Lamb is going to have to be a big plus for us down this stretch drive, and he is starting to swing the bat like we've seen in the past. It was a big lift tonight. We don't know how much longer Morgan is going to be out, but if he (Lamb) can step up and swing with power like we know he can, I think that will help everybody's confidence a little bit.
ok starts worry
The whole thing is OK. It's OK with the team. We don't have to worry about what he does in between starts because we know he does his work. It's evidenced by the way he pitches.
good pitches threw
They actually threw some pitches that were pretty good pitches. We just didn't get 'em.
business challenged gave great
The way he went about his business gave us great confidence. He went after them, he challenged them.
ball bat breaks cheers crazy crowd goes guy people rolls seen starts takes
I've never seen it where the crowd cheers as much when he breaks his bat and the ball rolls 10 feet. The place goes crazy. Most of the time, people go crazy when a guy takes a big swing, and they go 'Ooooh...' This guy, in our park, he nibbles one and everyone starts going nuts.
best bounce series
This is not the best situation, but it's the one we're in. We'll bounce back. We'll make a series out of this.
bunch hits question somebody
No question that when you're not bunching a bunch of hits together, then you need somebody to come through for you big.
