good people quickly
I always like to get people in as quickly as you can. That's the good part of it.
excited
He would have been excited. He would have been excited for Biggio, for Bagwell, for me, for all of us.
He went out and did his thing. He does what he always does.
bat certainly defensive ends foot gets might plus showing situations swing
He's certainly a plus defensive player, and if he ends up showing he can swing the bat ... and he gets his foot in the door, it might be one of those situations where you can't get him out.
critical facing four guy hard job key maybe plays sit somebody three tough toughest
He handles everything well, and for a guy who plays maybe once a week, it's tough to do well in a job like that. Pinch-hitting is one of the toughest jobs, you're usually facing somebody tough. It's hard to sit around for three or four days, then try to go up there and get a key at-bat in a critical situation.
found hole strike zone
He had us in a hole all night. He found the strike zone and he said, 'hit it,' and we didn't.
fastball good guy nice primary stayed unusually
He had a pretty nice fastball and he was locating it pretty good and they just stayed with it all night. It was kind of an unusually pitched game. You don't see a guy use primary fastballs but he was locating where he wanted and they stayed with it and he did a nice job.
few frame middle time
He had to have a few stitches in his middle finger. He'll be out for a few days. We don't know a time frame on that yet.
happen hard opening throw
He hasn't made a quick, hard throw and we want to see that. It will happen when it happens. Obviously, we'd like to see it before opening day.
bringing debated gotten hard needed seventh throw work
He has not been used a lot recently. He needed to throw tonight, so he was going to have to go. I actually debated bringing him in in the seventh if we had gotten in trouble. He was going to have to work hard tonight.
behind consistent given gotten pitching though
He had not been pitching on a consistent basis, ... Even though he had given up only two hits, he had gotten behind a lot of hitters.
clear good job picture wants
He did a good job yesterday. He's got a clear picture of what he wants to do and he's executing.
ahead behind bit good job needed pitches
He did a good job of making pitches when he needed to. We'd like to see him pitch ahead a bit more. He got behind a lot of hitters. But he did a pretty good job of making the pitches when he had to.
fine job marvelous nice pitches threw
He did a fine job today. He did a nice job. He threw strikes, used his pitches well. He did a marvelous job. Boy, did we need it.
