best defense defensive games last liked played pressure today
The thing I liked about our defense today is that we were able to get pressure on the quarterback. Our defense has improved. In the last two games we've played our best defensive games.
ball empty excellent execution game knew last leaves lose phases played reason talented team three time turned
I think any time you lose a game like today, it leaves you with an empty feeling. We played a talented team and there is a reason why that team was 15-1 last year. We knew going in that it was going to take excellent execution on our part in all three phases of our team. Unfortunately we did not get that, we turned the ball over early.
deal effort felt focused game last playoff plays teams watch
I think that a big part of this game is how you deal with distractions. I've always felt that when you watch teams in the last game of the season, especially if they are out of the playoff race, it comes down to the most focused team and who plays with the most effort comes out on top. It's a challenge.
coach last player
In the last month, there has been a lot of that sentiment, but when you are a coach or a player you never think of those things.
against challenge defense focused last players playing week work
The challenge this week is that we're playing against the No. 1 defense from last season. When the players come back to work Wednesday, they'll be zeroing in on the Steelers. We'll be focused on what we need to do to be more efficient.
cannot care great job taking turn
We have to do a better job of taking care of the ball. We know the Steelers do a great job of it and they do not turn it over much. We cannot turn it over.
anticipate coach football head heart job soul understand win work
I understand the job as the head football coach is to win games. But when you put your heart and soul into something and it doesn't work the way you want it or anticipate it to, it's disappointing.
bounce chance gives glad quite self week
Quite frankly, I'm glad we have a bye week this week. It gives us a chance to do a lot of self evaluation. We have got to find some way to bounce back.
beat close football good plays takes
We had our opportunities and were close on a few, but we didn't make the plays it takes to beat a good football team.
care chunks eat hard plays taken team work
Big plays like that are hard to overcome. One play to eat up that kind of yardage is tough. For us to be the kind of team we want to be we can't give up yardage in big chunks like that. We'll go back and work on that and get it taken care of.
basically character check far gut penalties
The thing I was the most disappointed in (Sunday) was basically the fundamentals of our team. Our tackling, our blocking, there were far too many penalties right now, it's a gut check and a character check for our team.
basic blocking committed tackling
The thing I was most disappointed in was the basic fundamentals of our team. Our blocking and tackling were poor, and we committed too many penalties.
focusing hard ready talked team
I've always talked to my team about focusing on the things you can control. So I got this team ready to play as hard as they could today.
ability mind question special teams
There's no question in my mind we have more playmaking ability on our special teams than we've had at any point.
