business coach football head heart job obviously soul tough understand win work
Well this obviously has been a long, tough year. I'm disappointed that things had to end this way. I understand this business and I understand your job as a head football coach is to win games. Obviously when you put your heart and soul into something and it doesn't work out the way that you wanted and anticipated, then you're disappointed.
base execute happy hard job poise work
We aren't happy where we are. We have to do a better job in the base fundamentals of the game. We have to work hard to keep our poise and to execute under pressure.

I've known Nick for a very long time and have the utmost respect for the job he has done at every coaching position he has held. I appreciate the opportunity he has given me, and I'm looking forward to working with him and his staff in any way I can to help the organization achieve its goals.

We have to do a better job of taking care of the ball. We know the Steelers do a great job of it and they do not turn it over much. We cannot turn it over.

I understand the job as the head football coach is to win games. But when you put your heart and soul into something and it doesn't work the way you want it or anticipate it to, it's disappointing.
allow continue defense five giving job plays runs third unit work
The defense did an outstanding job on third down. Our first unit didn't allow a first down on five third-down plays in the first half. The thing we've got to continue to work on is not giving up the big play. They had runs of 23, 21 and 15 yards.
ability mind point question special teams time
There is no question in my mind that we have more playmaking ability in our special teams than we've had at any point in time we've been here.

Our plan is to have him do a little more in practice. Hopefully, he'll respond the way we hope he'll respond, and in that case he'll be the starter.
football good responsibility strides three win
Our responsibility was to win football games, and we made good strides the first three seasons, but we didn't get it done this year. I'm disappointed that things had to end this way.
deal effort felt focused game last playoff plays teams watch
I think that a big part of this game is how you deal with distractions. I've always felt that when you watch teams in the last game of the season, especially if they are out of the playoff race, it comes down to the most focused team and who plays with the most effort comes out on top. It's a challenge.
awful efficient game hard negative offensive sloppy
I think there's an awful lot for us to learn. We were not sharp. We were too sloppy at times with the turnovers and penalties. It's hard to have an efficient offensive game if you have that many negative plays.
