area camp caught overtime ton training worked
Jerome caught a ton of punts in training camp because he really hadn't done much of that in college. We kind of worked him overtime in that area during camp.
adverse difficult extremely good guys handling hard job played season until
Our guys played hard until the end again. They did a good job of handling a lot of adverse situations. It's been an extremely difficult season for all of us.
compete football improved takes team win
Overall, we improved as a football team yesterday. We did more of the things it takes to go in and compete and win a game.
case hope plan respond
Our plan is to have him do a little more in practice. Hopefully, he'll respond the way we hope he'll respond, and in that case he'll be the starter.
football good responsibility strides three win
Our responsibility was to win football games, and we made good strides the first three seasons, but we didn't get it done this year. I'm disappointed that things had to end this way.
fighting giving looking plays
Jerome has really been giving us a spark. When you are fighting through what we are fighting through, you are looking to try to make plays any way you can.
affected ball couple forward help hopefully move passing ran seems third trying work
I thought we ran the ball well and our first- and second-down passing was much improved. It seems like you have something you have to go to work on every week. That is just kind of where we are right now. Our third down was affected by our pass protection. We are trying to look at a couple different combinations to hopefully help us move forward in that area.
defense excited explosive gets goes improve potential season stays year
I think you'll see a more explosive defense. And I think you'll see a defense that, if it stays healthy, gets better as the season goes along. Our defense has the potential to improve as the year goes on. They're excited to get out there and play.
good point
From that point on, we really didn't get a lot done. We're going to have to take a good look at it as we go through the preseason process.
burst productive slide style
He'll slide laterally, then you'll see his burst going up the field. He has his own style and it's a very productive style.
game
We think he'll be fine. If the game was Sunday, I think he'd be ready.
football games obviously pass progress seen terms win work
We're obviously still a work in progress in terms of our pass protection. But I've seen us, at times, do the things that you have to do to win football games on offence. We just have to do it more consistently with our execution.
convinced opener smarter takes team win work
We've got to go back to work and become a more disciplined and smarter team and do all the things it takes to win games. We have a lot of work to do because our opener is right around the corner. I'm convinced that we can get to where we need to be.
bright forward progress seeing top week
He's a bright guy. He's on top of his assignments, and we look forward to seeing him play every week to see how much progress he's made.
