bench half picked quarter reason soft third though won
I thought our first half was as soft defensively as we'd been all year. We started the third quarter the same way but then our bench picked us up. Even though (our bench) was outscored, I thought they were the reason we won the game.
game halftime second special
Wade was sensational. We said at halftime that he would try to take the game over in the second half, and he did. He's a special player.
cut defense eventually half run second spot team
We never had any rhythm. In the second half the defense was much better and we cut into it a little bit. But when you spot a team (19) points, and that team has Kobe, you know eventually during your run that he is going to make a shot.
burn four guys halftime kept open quarter reason shots soft third though three won
We just kept scratching. I told our guys at halftime that I thought our first half was as soft defensively as we'd been all year. And we started our third quarter out the same way. They got three or four open shots and I had to burn two timeouts but then I thought our bench, even though they were outscored in a big way, was the reason we won the game.
player half defense
If you're a great defensive player, you're a great defensive player 100% of the time. You can't be a great defensive player half of the time because you didn't get the ball once or twice. That can't sidetrack you. It's got to be 'I live for my defense, and my offense I'll get. But I can't let it affect my defense. Nothing affects my defense.'
absolutely defense half second
The defense in the second half was phenomenal. They switched. They talked. They communicated. That was absolutely incredible.
basically body couple engaged good half language mark season summer system talked
He's just been engaged. We've been engaged with him. Mark and I, we've had a couple of good conversations this summer one right before the season started. We basically talked about a lot of things. I told him on my half I will just try to communicate better, but on his half the body language and all the other things have to be better. And if we were in a grading system he'd be an A-plus.
gets
When he gets it going like that, I don't know what you can do.
everybody great job pitch
With Wally going out, everybody had to just pitch in. Everyone did a great job of it.
close pierce reason
Pierce is one big reason for (winning close games) and Gomes has been on an unbelievable roll.
execution fights-and-fighting kept proud teach using
I was happy. I was proud of our young guys. They just kept fighting. I was using it to teach execution to young guys.
aggressor fell heels
It fell apart. They attacked. I thought they were the aggressor and I thought we went back on our heels a little bit.
becoming continuing focus people team win
I think Paul's team play enabled us to win on this trip. He's been great. I think people will focus on his scoring, but he's done so many other things. We are continuing to improve. We are becoming a team.
besides defense fourth might nice played quarter ricky turned worst
It is nice when you are a scorer like Ricky and you can make a contribution in another way besides scoring. That first quarter might have been the worst defense we played all season, but they turned it around with the way (Davis and Pierce) played in the fourth quarter.
