deserves great happy learn loved situation terrific
I loved being around him. He's a terrific competitor. This is a great place for him, not just for the (winning) environment. You're going to learn a lot. I'm just really happy for him. He deserves to be in a situation like this. It's up to him what he does with it. My money's on him.
confidence few kid learned next quite smart spring sure
So I'm sure it's been a confidence thing off and on but he's a smart kid and next spring he's going to look back on this thing and (realize) he's learned quite a few things.
changes good high letting week
My expectations aren't real high for the first week to 10 days. We're just letting them get used to changes we've made. We did some good things.
care good himself love taking
Obviously, he's taking care of himself a lot better than he used to. I just love the way he competes, and I love the way he cares. He's a good teammate. That's what I like.
Nothing is going the way we wanted it to go.
count kids pitch strict
We have a real strict pitch count for these young kids and he was at 97. We were going to let him go between 95 and 100.
count kids pitch strict younger
We have a really strict pitch count for these younger kids.
defense everybody outfield talking
I think everybody is talking about our infield (defense) being better, which it is. But our outfield defense is going to be better, too.
game impress matter trying
It doesn't really matter what kind of game it is. They're all just trying to impress all of us at this point.
bottom guys kid last line looked
I thought he looked the same as he did last year. The bottom line is he's a big kid who can get guys out.
consistent overall results strike
Results are everything, I guess. Denny just has to be more consistent in the strike zone. Overall he was good, but could be better.
biggest issue pitching whether
Pitching wasn't the biggest issue. We know he can pitch. It's a durability issue and whether he maintains his stuff.
feels good hopefully hoping monday today tomorrow
Optimistically, we're hoping he'll be back in the lineup Tuesday, ... Today is Saturday. Hopefully he'll feel good tomorrow and be able to do something, see how it feels on Monday and play Tuesday.
hard incredible people question team time watching
Some of the things we do fundamentally, just the intangibles, it's just incredible at this level. I have a hard time watching it sometimes. There's no question we have people on this team who are going to be here when we're good. But right now there's a lot of things they need to learn.
