chances good shooting stop taking
We've been getting some two-on-one chances or breakaways, but we're not taking the shots. We're shooting too much from the sides. Any goalie in the NHL is good enough to stop those.
control job stop win
I play to win and that is about it. My job is to stop the puck. I can't control anything else.
fancy stop trying
I'm just trying to stop the puck. There's nothing fancy about it.
best deal hard job puck stop whatever
That's my job to stop the puck and that's all there is to it. (The Flames) made it hard on me. Whatever comes at you, you've got to try and deal with and do the best you can.
detroit expect fame five hall night players shots stop
You can't stop 40 or 45 shots a night and expect to win. Detroit has five Hall of Fame players on the team. You can't give them 45 shots.
guy team
When one guy makes a mistake, it's like dominoes from there. We have to be better as a team and as individuals.
chances facing playing scoring sooner
We're not playing well defensively. Facing 30 or more scoring chances a game, something's going to go in sooner or later.
business matter
We're not in the business of figure-skating. It doesn't matter if you do a little better tonight. You play for points, and we just didn't get it done.
game hard period shots substitute total work
Twenty-two shots is usually the whole game total for us. So for us to do that in one period was great. There's no substitute for hard work and that's what we were doing out there.
gave
We scored that goal. It's not like they gave it to us.
plays power shots
You get a lot of power plays and you get a lot of shots you can't see,
blocks defense guys helps playing pressure taken veteran
Brendan Witt is playing great. He blocks shots. He is also a leader. With him in the lineup the whole defense has the pressure taken off of them. We have a lot of young guys and a veteran like Brendan helps them play better.
possible worst
I don't feel any pressure. I don't think this has got anything to do with pressure. Sometimes you just play really well, and then get in a slump. Now is the worst possible timing.
dominated easy foolish grind picking reason start until
I don't know what the reason is, but we've been getting dominated here lately. This is the NHL, and we're foolish if we thought we were going to start picking up easy wins. It's going to be a grind all the way until the end of the season.
