We believe in a lot of the same things. I'm interested to learn about anything, any way I can improve myself. And I think it's a two-way thing where he's trying to find things that interest the players and make it fun for them to improve.
With Palffy and Gonchar, those are some real offensive players, ... It should be a fun team to watch, definitely.
When I watched the first game, it was tough because I think that was the time I realized it's probably going to be another four years before I had the opportunity. After that, I just became a fan. I was pulling for them and I wanted them to do well. It's unfortunate it didn't, but I said before Canada had a lot of expectations and they're not going to win gold every time.
We want to use that as momentum. It's important to keep that going as we prepare for our next game.
We wanted to get a good start, but I don't think we've had the best first period the last couple of games. I'm sure it's something we thought about a little bit more, knowing the intensity they were going to play with being an important game for them. We knew they were going to play hard. I think we just tried to match that.
Obviously, this is a new level, but the pressure has always been there,
It's tough right now. It's tough for everyone, I'm sure. It's tough for the people that watch us sometimes, too, because they want to see the team win, and trust me, we want to win as bad as they want to see us win.
It's tough losing the one and two-goal games and not having that extra bit we need to put us over the top and get the win. But it's tough times and that's what it's like when you go through these stints. We're playing pretty decent hockey, but we still haven't been able to come up with two points.
For him to go through all he's gone through, yet do everything he's done on the ice is unbelievable. It's all weighed on him. It hasn't been easy - the team's losing and he's trying to keep the team in Pittsburgh. It's got to wear on you.
It's not easy to watch the game at home on TV.
It's probably pretty funny that it could be a little competition we have there.
It's pretty easy. As someone new there, I can tell you that you start to love them, too. I've followed them a lot since I've gotten there.
It's probably mixed feelings (going into the break) because we have a little momentum and it would have been nice to try to carry it on. But I think we're all happy to finish it off like this. We can all go into the break feeling good about ourselves and know if we keep playing like this we have a lot to look forward to the rest of the season.
It's pretty simple when you're playing with someone like that. You just give him the puck and get open. I think any guy who plays with him is excited to be out there with him.
