It's different, but that's why you don't go into the season with any expectations. You just let things happen and try to prepare yourself for what does happen. It has been a year full of a lot of different things.
It's big. It's something that we've been talking about for a long time. Every time we play them this year it's been something that's been brought up, so it's nice to finish it and move on.
It was nice to play here. We had our chances, we just weren't able to cash in on our opportunities.
It was nice to get the first one out of the way.
Any time you get tired, you start to break down. I don't think we're too much out of shape, but if we do get in shape, it definitely helps and it's one less thing you have to worry about happening. We were guilty of making some big mistakes and if you want to say that's because of conditioning, maybe, but at least this takes away that possibility and gives us a better chance to win.
Anytime you play hockey, you want to play with momentum. I think a lot of guys will tell you it's much nicer to play with a lead than it is to always be chasing.
As you learn to win, you learn sometimes when you're not on your best night to find ways to win or get points.
Every time you get those chances you want to take advantage.
When a goalie is off for that long, you expect he might be a little rusty. Early on, he was giving out a few more rebounds than normal. If we had jumped on a few on those, it might have been different. As the game wore on, he seemed to get more comfortable and he was pretty solid back there.
Five-on-five, we really didn't give them too much.
Every time we played them this year, it has been brought up. I'm not going to lie, it was something that was lingering. It was nice to finally close that up.
The defensemen went down and got out of position. So then the goalie had no choice but to play the shot so I knew Mark had an open shot. I gave him a quick look and got him the puck.
Breakaway goals are fun. When you score a quick one in front of the net, it just happens, but during a breakaway, there's about one or two seconds where you're not sure.
I watched 'Mighty Ducks.' 'Slapshot' when I was a little older.
