He's an unbelievable player, ... It was fun just to watch him out there.
I feel comfortable, ... I'm definitely feeling challenged but with each day I gain more experience. I'm just trying to improve each day.
I don't want to downplay it and say it's something that happens every day because it's not. But I've been in a lot of similar situations the last few years,
He's got a great shot. We just have to get him the puck and he's going to take advantage. He's just hot right now. It seems like every chance he gets he's finding a way to put it in. we want to keep getting him the puck. If he keeps playing like that he's going to be successful.
I can't believe it, ... For it to happen once, I was in shock. But this time, it's almost like ... 'It can't be real.'
I'd love to have the opportunity to do that, ... Obviously I'm going to be a rookie, so I'm going to try to learn as much as a I can, be open-minded. And be a student. . . . I'm going to learn from one of the best guys in Mario Lemieux. So I'm going to try and be a sponge in that way and learn as much as I can from him.
I'm not really thinking about it right now, ... I want to come and play in the NHL next year. That's my goal, that's my focus right now. I'm going to put everything into that and try to move on from there.
I'm going to try to lead by example. I'm going to do my best for these guys.
I'm not going to play in a replacement league. With replacement players it's not the best league in the world - that's the league that I dream of playing in, the NHL - with real NHL players.
I'm feeling a lot more comfortable. I think you never want to forget you're a rookie. You should savor the experience every night. I don't want to play like one, though. I want to play like I've been here a while.
I really didn't expect anything from this season, I came in open-minded and went with the flow. A lot of things happened during the season, good and bad.
I gave it my best shot, tried to have the best rookie year I could.
I guess you can take this one a little easier, but it's no fun. Neither one (of the last two games have been) fun. It was a lot better than we played here a few nights ago here, so, that's something we can definitely take out of it. We need to find ways to win.
The first two periods it wasn't there, I don't know why. I was trying to create things but there were so many power plays, it's tough to get a feel for the puck and get your legs under you. But there's no excuses. I have to find a way to be ready. Obviously I didn't have the same jump but I don't expect myself to come in here and get three goals every night. It's not going to be a perfect night every time.
