Everybody has to take a bit more pride and effort that the No. 1 job of the offensive line and running backs is pass protection. You don't want that quarterback to be touched. You have to work to do that. Regardless of how many first-year guys we have in the offensive line, they're playing and that's the job they're expected to do.

I think coming out early like that, he has to really try and showcase himself, especially since he didn't get to go to the combines. He's got to make his mark out there with people watching him and maybe they'll work him out a little further.

He has the size, the strength and the athletic ability we're looking for. I just felt as we head into spring that he's going to line up there. The schedule that I've already made for beginning in August, I know this: Regardless of wind, rain, snow, sleet, whatever it may be, I'm never going to have to worry about changing. We can set a schedule and if I want to practice at 3:15 every day, we can practice at 3:15. Every day we're going to practice at 3:15 whether it's outside or it's inside. It will be nice when that day comes.
