Randy Douglas Edsallis an American football coach who is currently the director of football research-special projects for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. He was the head coach at the University of Maryland from 2011 to 2015. Edsall was previously the head coach at the University of Connecticut from 1999 until the 2011 Fiesta Bowl, and oversaw the program's promotion from the NCAA Division I-AA level to Division I-A. I think when you have that it makes other people change what they want to do from a punting standpoint. Larry has a tremendous amount of confidence back there and I thought he made great decisions when the ball was kicked away from him going to get them and pick it up and make something happen.

The biggest thing is we were able to attract more speed and more athleticism with this group. Not only in your normal skill positions or the power positions, but even with the linemen.

After watching tape Friday night and after four days, there's been a lot of improvement since the first day that we were out here. We've got a lot of guys working hard and a lot of guys making some steps. We've still got a lot more that we want to accomplish, but I'm pleased so far with what's taken place through five days. So far we're healthy, too. We haven't lost anybody in five days, which is important.

I never look at if a guy is a walk on or a scholarship player, to me it's the best guy that gets the spot.
