asking beautiful draw game learn manage ourselves players quite
The beautiful thing about our game to manage (is) you learn on the job. We've been through all the experiences. You're not asking the players to do something we ourselves haven't done. He'll draw on those experiences, and I think he'll do quite fine.
baggy involved love nor propensity seen situation stretch unique
The Bagwell thing has the propensity to be difficult. We all love Baggy and this is a unique situation. In all my years in the game, I don't think I've seen a situation like this, nor have I been involved in one by any stretch of the imagination.
approach good looked plate pleased second solid
After that first at-bat, and then the second at-bat was a good at-bat. He looked very good, very solid at the plate tonight. We are pleased to see his approach at the plate.
behind bike couple given looked pick plate playing position pro ride smooth
It's not been a position he's been playing a lot in pro ball, so I wouldn't say it's a given that you pick it right back up, but once you get on a bike you still know how to ride it, I would think. He's looked pretty smooth the couple of times he's been behind the plate for me.
ball behind far gives good job letting nice receives
I'm going to take a good look at him on that. He receives the ball nicely. He's gives a nice target. He's down, he's not jumpy behind the plate. He does a good job as far as just letting the ball come to him.
game played proud ticked win
I'm proud of these guys, we played hard, ... I'm disappointed and I'm ticked off that we didn't win a game in this World Series, but I'm proud of our players.
came felt man tonight
I lied, ... Let's just say I felt like he was the man to go to tonight and he came through for us.
game learned line
I learned that there are some who can play when the game is on the line and some who can't.
bat came guys hand hole morgan moved pitch position prefer swinging switched third turned
I moved him for Morgan. When he came back from the hand injury, I wanted him in a position where guys are going to have to pitch to him and he's going to get pitches. I switched him back because I didn't think he was swinging the bat that good. I prefer to have Lance in that third hole and as it turned out today, Morgan came through big.
arms coming five good last league san seeing six washington younger
I'm seeing younger and better arms coming into the league in the last five or six years. Washington has good pitching. Same for San Diego.
messages seen sent
I have not seen him. I have messages that he sent to other people.
announced fighting guys lay major rocket roger wait worried
I'm not worried about that. I don't think that will be a major issue. I don't see that we would lay back and wait on Roger to make a decision. I think guys are going to be out there fighting to win, even if Rocket announced his retirement.
count trying
I'm not trying to keep anything from you. You just don't count him out.
afford almost strikes three walk
I like what you see there. And he strikes out almost three times as many as he walks, so he can afford to walk somebody, because he's going to strike you out, too.
