Right now with its first initial announcement it's just a starting point for finishing the season and where you wind up is most important.
That was our moment. I was trying to win the football game. We came within one fourth down of doing it. Missed it by that much.
We have our way at halftime. Our guys know that situation well enough now that they know what's going to come from me, I know how they're going to respond, and we're going to go about our business in a particular manner that gives us a chance to win ? because basically they believe they can't be beat.
Winning the Heisman could get to you, but it's my job to make sure that doesn't happen.
We have to win one before we can win two.
It's so great to be standing in front of you representing what this university has always been about: winning championships, national championships.
They have really put it together in great fashion and we owe a tremendous amount to that which they have done and what they have accomplished to set things in motion. It's a remarkable number of wins for any group ever. I can't wait to see them all graduate, finish up and get out of here.
They have played really good football, and they have tons of highlights and good things to show, ... But they have been unable to get their win in the Pac-10. That just screams about the Pac-10 offenses. They bring in a terrific running back, a terrific receiver.
That right there is where the game was won and lost. We make the first down, we win the game.
Twenty more yards of field position wasn't going to make a difference. The series before, Texas had great success moving the ball downfield. If we get the first down, we win the game.
This wound up being a bend-but-don't break game, ... I hate to play like that, but that's what this game became. The opportunity to win was still there, and it came down to, 'Are you going to get it done, or aren't you?'
You gotta believe you're going to win the way that happened.
It was exactly the right thing to do. You want to win the game right there.
The thing I like is that I'm in charge of everything, so I can structure things the way I like. I get to wear all the hats. There are a few guys in the NFL who have that opportunity, but not many. You basically have to win a Super Bowl.
