Very dramatic. As exciting as it can be. A wonderful day for college football. It's something we'll never forget. For an energy junkie like me, it can't get any better than that. To be challenged to the last tick of the clock is really special for me.
What we did last year -- that was cool, that was fun. We made a great DVD. But that's behind us. This is a whole new challenge, just as it was last year and the year before.
Looking at him, last year to this year, you can see the maturity in the throwing game and his decision-making and all of that.
We're waiting to see what will happen with the running back spot. I loved the (fumbles) for our defensive side. The last week they've really gotten after it.
I'm not sure how it happened last week and I'm not sure how it happened this week. We weren't cheering when the new BCS ranking came out this morning. I know that. The BCS ranking is really important when you finish the season, not now.
They looked great against Arizona State and great against UCLA, save the last eight minutes of the game.
That last sequence, I didn't want to go to overtime. I thought they'd have an advantage. I told my guys on the last drive we were going for it, ... We had a remarkable opportunity on the inches line. In that sequence, Matt has the option to sneak it or spike it. I pointed to Matt and said, 'Go for the win.'
To get this far this fast is impressive. We have to find out how far he can take it. He played particularly well in the last scrimmage. Cushing's able to hold his own, no doubt about it.
This was a very important game for us. We needed to show everybody that we could play better than we did last week. Our guys did a good job of that today.
It's a display of respect for last year. We're proud of what we accomplished, and other people respect that. But it's what we do from this point forward that counts in 2005.
It really felt this way when we talked as a team last night that this could happen in a big way. It was like we could have kept playing all night and had all that fun.
Somebody is going to get us some day. That's just the way it goes. When it last happened, we turned around and haven't lost since. ... It's how you're going to respond to that (loss) that's important.
Just like last week, no, we weren't shocked to hear this. We weren't cheering when the new BCS ranking came out. The BCS ranking is really important when you finish the season, not now.
