This was a night of champions. Two teams went out and battled to the final seconds and Texas did a great job.
Tonight the offense was just rolling. We finally got rolling in the turnover situation. We've been quiet lately. Stanford has been such a stingy team. We wanted to turn that thing around. To get five and give none, we loved that.
We reacted exactly like we should. We had to put a stop to the bad stuff happening before it got too deep and we did that. The defense stopped them for 40 straight minutes and the offense scored seven of the final eight times we had the ball.
Matt had a spike or sneak option on the final touchdown play. We were over on the sideline feinting the spike call, knowing that Matt was going to try the sneak. For a second, he looked at us and then had a little look of doubt on his face and then looked back at Reggie. Reggie said to him, 'Dude, you've got to go for it, man.' And he did.
It's going to be a few more days before we make a final evaluation (on Booty). We're just holding off until the doctors are ready to make a final call on how he is.
This was a night for championships. Texas did a great job, wonderful job, all night. We had to keep scoring all night to outscore them. They were great champions tonight. If you have to step aside for somebody tonight, they're the team to do that for.
When you first look at their team, you can't see anything but him. He's a fantastic player. Your eyes are drawn to him.
Without question, that was a phenomenal night by one guy. That's an extraordinary player.
We righted it and got it going. We're thrilled that this is what our opportunity is. I know there's a lot of talk about pressure, but that's not what this feels like. It feels like an opportunity. It's been fun.
We're much higher on Mark at this early stage than we were on Matt.
We're trying to find six or seven No. 1 draft picks every class. We'd like to have that many every year. Every recruit out of state, we're trying to find a No. 1 pick. That's the criteria. We primarily recruit in California.
We're treating this very seriously. He's in essence been knocked down until we find out further what the situation is.
We didn't expect it to be this easy, but the game went our way from the beginning. I was a little surprised.
This was the best offensive line we had seen, the best running back we had seen, the best quarterback we had seen and the best receiving crew we had seen.
