among ask doctors door players questions shut talk
They can ask all their questions with the doctors in there. We don't want any confusion. Shut the door and let the players talk among themselves, just them and the docs.
against baseball class consistent good home last league less national nice played series timely won
That is the class of the National League for the last 14 years. It's pretty big. We've never even won a series at home against them, much less a sweep. We played good, consistent baseball to do it -- with pitching, good timely hitting. It was a nice series.
finds good matter trusting
It's a matter of trusting his stuff, ... If he ever finds it and is consistent, he can be a good pitcher.
commanding falls fastball matter national quality sets strikes stuff throwing
It's a matter of commanding his fastball and being consistent. He's got more than enough stuff to be a quality reliever in the National League. It sets everything else up when he's throwing his fastball. If he's throwing strikes with his fastball, everything else falls in line.
defense formulate last needs plan playing run
It's an attitude. You're doing what needs to be done to get the run in. The last thing you want is a strikeout. Then nothing can happen. You have to see where the defense is playing you, formulate a plan and go to work.
great huge timely win
It's a great feeling, ... A lot of timely hits. It's a huge win for us.
opportunity runs score
I told him I didn't want to take him out of the game. I wanted to give him an opportunity to get through the inning so we could score some runs for him and get him his 18th win. I told him to get after him and be aggressive.
good
I told him he'll never know how good he can be if he doesn't go out and try it.
ability anybody call guys home losers straight winter
I told our guys it's very important for us to go home this winter and not give anybody the ability to call us losers again. They've been called that for 12 straight years.
ball hit last opposite pierre
It nicked off his glove. With two strikes, we play in on Pierre on the opposite way anyway. About the last thing he will do is hit a ball the opposite way over an outfielder's head.
defined helps
It really helps to have defined roles, and we don't really have that now,
double surprised turn
It really surprised me that they were able to turn (the double play). I didn't think they had a chance.
robin tried
I tried to set Robin up as much as I could.
bit messes pitching
It's a little bit (strange), if you let it be. If you look at it as pitching infrequently, it messes you up. You keep yourself ready.
