ball count finds haunt pitch score
We just let too many opportunities get early. We got his pitch count way up and had opportunities to score and couldn't put the ball in play. That always finds a way to come back and haunt you.
decent maybe score start though today
Even though we've been struggling, I think we have a decent lineup. I think we will score some runs. Maybe today is a start for us.
again against behind billy bottom caliber carpenter fall four good guy hall help hits innings runs score timely tying
To fall behind 2-0 and then come back and score two runs and then again to fall back by four runs, making it 6-2, and tying it up in the bottom of that innings against the guy the caliber of Carpenter is a good feeling. We had a lot of timely hits. Overbay and Billy Hall had big nights. Even Cappy had two big hits to help his cause.
bit ended evident help hit instead putting runners runs score struggled struggling takes team three walks
(Capuano) just struggled all day. He could never get it going. We had too many walks all day. We ended up with nine. When a team has been struggling to score runs a little bit like they have, you can't help them out by putting runners on. Then it only takes one hit instead of three to score a run. That was evident in the first inning.
opportunity runs score
I told him I didn't want to take him out of the game. I wanted to give him an opportunity to get through the inning so we could score some runs for him and get him his 18th win. I told him to get after him and be aggressive.
score situation
We had battled back for him and got him in a situation where the score was tied,
consistent looking offense runs score top trying
We're looking for a little more offense at the top of the lineup now. We're trying to find a way to score some runs on a consistent basis.
ball game good plate reflect run score time tying
Any time you get the tying run to the plate (late) in a ball game you've done a pretty good job. But the score really doesn't reflect that.
benefit glad great runs score
I'm glad we were able to score some runs so he could benefit from his great pitching.
depends game games hitter lost runs score second seen stage
I'm not going to concede too many runs in this series, ... It depends on who the hitter is, what stage of the game we're at. I've seen a lot of games lost where you're in the first or second inning and you say, 'Eh, let them have that run. We're going to score a bunch.' And you end up losing, 1-0.
bats exception games seems swinging team
We've been swinging the bats OK, with the exception of (Wednesday night), ... I think every team has those games where it seems like you can't get anything done.
ball catching count fewer pitch position runners scoring three
We just let too many opportunities get by early. We got his pitch count up and three times we had runners in scoring position and fewer than two out. We just couldn't put the ball in play. That has a way of catching up with you.
ball good happens haunt preach
We just let too many opportunities get by early. That always comes back to haunt you. We preach to put the ball in play. Nothing good happens with a strikeout.
ahead ball chance figured gamble good hit odds throwing trying
We figured that would be a good chance to gamble and take a shot. Davies was throwing the ball very well at that point. The odds of trying to get a two-out hit probably weren't in our favor. We thought we'd go ahead and gamble, and it worked.
