We wanted him to try to go out and pitch five innings and 80 pitches, and he ended up (going) six innings and 70 pitches.
bat bench brady days five four help houston seven
Brady is seven days out and still four or five days away in the best-case scenario. Going into Houston another left-handed bat off the bench will help us.
balls concrete fields good ground night rain weather work
Boy, the infield is like concrete out there. Ground balls get by you in a hurry. We can use the good weather to get our work in but you'd like to see a little rain at night to soften up the fields a bit.
decent maybe score start though today
Even though we've been struggling, I think we have a decent lineup. I think we will score some runs. Maybe today is a start for us.
ben chris good pleased threw
Ben (Sheets) threw well, Doug Davis, Chris Capuano, I was pleased with all of our starters. It was a good day.
benny evaluate shoulder slight strain tomorrow
Benny we think has a slight strain of his lat. It's not the shoulder or elbow. We will evaluate him tomorrow and he will be day-to-day.
ben best interest opening push ready team
Ben would have made the team if he had been completely healthy. But it was in his best interest not to push it, so he'd be ready opening day.
again anymore believe benny healthy last nearly sharp
Believe it or not, Benny wasn't nearly as sharp as his last start. He's back healthy again - we don't even think about that anymore - and doing what he does best. He was on the attack.
billy looked playing
Billy looked like he was playing in for the bunt.
billy gives knows playing weapon
Billy knows his role. His versatility gives us a weapon at more than one position. He will get his playing time.
billy coach compliment great guys mike pitching played ready success
Billy is like the pitching coach of the bullpen. He's a great compliment to (pitching coach) Mike Maddux and he has played a big part in the success we've had out there. When those guys come in the game, he's got them ready to go.
gets good pitcher pitching point realizing thinks
Sometimes when a young pitcher gets to the point where he's pitching pretty good, he thinks he's being lucky. (Capuano) is realizing he's pitching good because he is good.
everybody goes worry
Everybody goes through that. It's nothing to worry about.
ability forget good guys happened
Every day is a different day. These guys are all professionals. They've got a real good ability to forget what happened yesterday, good or bad.
