attack good great stuff
He pitched very, very well. He was very determined, had good stuff and was on the attack and pitched a great game.
camp dream playing realistic time
For the first time, they actually can come into camp and live the dream of playing into October. There are a lot of things that have to go right, but for the first time we can dream about that in a realistic sense.
bullpen couple depth increase looking time turn
For the first time in a couple of years we're not going to have to turn the roster over to get better. We're going to have to increase our depth on the bench, the depth in our bullpen and Doug's always looking for pitching.
heyday
I don't see anything different with him now than in his heyday when he was at his best.
glaring hype leagues minute player toughest
I don't see where it's going to get any more glaring than it's been from the minute he signed. How much more hype does a player have than him? So it's not going to get any tougher, it's only going to get easier. The toughest thing to do is to get to the big leagues and produce.
bad
I feel bad about that. We've really raided them. But we didn't have any choice. We had to do it.
dominant
He's not just a closer. He's a dominant closer.
evaluate fine miss slight strain
He's got a slight strain of the right lat, not his shoulder, not his elbow. We'll evaluate him tomorrow, but we don't even know if he's going to miss a start. We think he's going to be just fine and dandy.
baseball team player
Rolen's the perfect baseball player. It's his tenacity, his preparation, the way he plays. He tries to do everything fundamentally sound. And he puts the team team first-there's no fanfare with him.
running mean home
We've said from the beginning when we traded Richie (Sexson), we're trading home runs for doubles and the ability to manufacture runs... Doubles are almost better. I mean, home runs are great, but when you've got guys who smack those doubles, you're in good shape, you've got a lot of guys in scoring position.
missing
You can't really hit or miss on one outing.
pick umpire
The umpire (Gary Darling) got mad, ... He said, 'Shut up and pick up the bat.'
explain
You can't explain it. That's why it's a game.
august careful july pressure run trouble
You can run into trouble in July and August if you're not careful (with the bullpen) now. We have to take some pressure off those guys.
