I would say I'm very surprised it went down the way it did. I thought it was a possibility, but when I left for vacation, I definitely didn't think I would come back as not a member of the Titans. But we had a difference of the opinion somewhere along the way.

I would have been ecstatic to play this year. And I'm disappointed that I'm not. But also, at those moments when I separate the emotion from it all, I think this is probably the right thing to do, not only for myself and my career, but also for the Vikings.

I would definitely think we're back in a moment like Whitman was in, in the early 19th century, in which self-publishing is a very real thing, but it's increasingly requiring a level of skill that not everybody can attain.
