Martin Pierre Brodeuris a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender and the assistant general manager of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League. In his 21-season tenure with the New Jersey Devils, he won three Stanley Cup championships and five Eastern Conference titles in 17 postseason campaigns. It's been a long time coming for a lot of people. I know a lot of the players are real thrilled to get back at it. In New Jersey, the level of excitement is huge.
As far as I'm concerned, he's the best hockey player that I've played against.
Defensively we're going to have a lot of size. It should be interesting to see - I think it's going to be a learning process - learn to play with each other, learn to play with the new rules, learn to play against other teams. There's all new teams everywhere, they haven't been passive and have been changing players left and right. For the first week it be interesting to see how we play against our traditional rivals because we're going to be playing them a lot.
I think ... we're going to put this aside for two weeks, playing hockey against the best players in the world. I think definitely the distraction is you guys bringing it up to us because we don't bring it up to each other at all.
He is a tremendous hockey player so you've got to know if he is going to play or not. Regardless of him being there 100 percent or not there, it doesn't change the approach of our game.
He is Mr. New Jersey. Scotty was a great player who was known around the league, and established in All-Star games and this and that. Dano is pure New Jersey.
I'm sure it's not where everybody thought we'd be. Hopefully, the suicide game will be good for us. A lot of times it brings out the best in players. We need these players to step up and get us through the next game.
We are trying to get better every game. We took a step by winning an important game against a big rival.
The rules are there and there is a lot more flow to the game. If we are able to play this way and not take a lot of penalties, you'll see this more and more from our team. It's not just me. All the guys are excited that we are able to shut down good teams.
I've played enough in the NHL to know most of these guys. Most of the time I know their tendencies. I've been lucky. I've been fortunate to make some saves and help us win some games.
It was tough to get going right away and I think you saw that. It (the Italian goal) was good for the fans and they got excited. But we knew it was just a matter of time before we would score.
These were big games for us. It's nice to see us dominate them.
These nights are going to happen. It's definitely disappointing to do that against a team like that, but that's the way it is.
The Senators are a team we are looking up at in the standings. They beat a lot of teams in our division. Any points we get against them is a plus.
