against couple freshmen improved ready second teams three
We had three freshmen out there most of the second half, and I don't think many teams are doing that against this kind of competition. It's not to get ready to play in a couple of years, they're going to be out there now. Through 11 games, they've improved significantly, especially on defense, and you don't see that very often out of freshmen.
areas beginning exhibition games improve improved maybe team year
This team has improved from the beginning of the year more than any team I've been around. From the exhibition games through the 14 (regular-season) games, they've improved tremendously. But we have a lot of areas we can improve in. Maybe that's because of our youth.
against battle came continued east game good ncaa physical shooting team
This was a tough, physical Big East game against a team who I think will be good enough to go to the NCAA Tournament. Our shooting wasn't great, but Marquette had a lot to do with that, so we continued to battle and came away with a big win.
guy knew might pass
We knew that he might not get the assist, but he would probably pass it to the guy who would set it up.
knew
We knew it would come down to the end.
against best compete guys people practice prove
We're not really out to prove anything to people. We play to compete. These guys like to play against the best people and they like challenges. They compete here in practice and it doesn't really change.
ability near progress
We're not near where we need to be defensively. We need to make significant progress there, but we have the ability to do it.
battle sets win
To be successful, we need to win the battle of the boards. It sets up everything we do.
confidence freshmen good guess played stands surprised toughest
We've been pretty good in all the months, but I guess that one stands out. We had a lot of confidence in the freshmen, but I am surprised at how well they have played defensively. That's always the toughest thing for freshmen and they still have a long way to go.
focused game trying win
We were focused on trying to win the game and that was it. That's what you have to do and that's what we were focused on.
biggest boards emphasis
We were down 11 on the boards and were still in the game. It's the biggest emphasis for us.
advantage base battle size win
We had a size advantage. We have to win the battle of the boards. That's what we base what we do on.
aggressive came exactly execute needed played second
We came back and played better in the second half. But we just didn't execute as well as we needed to. They were aggressive and that had something to do with it. But it was not a surprise. It was exactly what we thought.
ball care goal obviously seventeen
We obviously would like to take care of the ball better. Seventeen turnovers are not what we had set our goal for.
