THE study of the Vedas is the highest type of learning since it leads to the conquest of Death. All other studies deal with the means of living or the surroundings which you have to live; they deal with earning and spending, deriving a little pleasure by this trick, escaping a little grief by that trick. The Vedas show the path to the Realm of Eternal Bliss, where there is no Birth or Death.
path praise saint shown slave worship
The Saint has shown me the Path of God; slave Nanak has implanted devotional worship and the Praise of the Lord.
against develop love men narrow open path power prejudices relish restricted sail
HAVING an open heart, do not relish the narrow path of restricted love; love all, do not develop prejudices against men in power or position. They too are our kith and kin. We all sail together.
both evil free good gracious men paths people thy tracks
Thy many paths upon which people go, thy tracks for chariots and wagons to advance, upon which both good and evil men proceed, this road, free from enemies,and free from thieves, may we gain, with what is auspicious (on thee) be gracious to us!

One should always make constant efforts to seek such a Guru, who can lead him to the path of self-realization.

The person who treads on the virtuous path attains all kinds of physical powers.

A brahmachari is he, who tries to attain enlightenment while he is alive and aspires for 'salvation' after his death. He incessantly makes efforts to improve upon his intellect and knowledge and to treads on the path of truth. Quite naturally gods are pleased by him and dwell in his heart.

A 'brahmachari' (a celibate) acts in such a way that treading the paths of both earth and heaven becomes a pleasurable experience; that is why all the Gods always dwell with him(in his heart).
deviate fail follow hold lay lead path soldiers
It is only those, who fail to follow My instructions and deviate from the path I lay down, that fail to get what I hold out before them. Follow My instructions and become soldiers in MY army; I will lead you on to victory.

Renounce your egotistical pride and your emotional attachment to Maya; focus your consciousness on the Lord's meditation. Says Nanak, this is the path to liberation.
