THE tongue is the armour of heart; it guards one's life. Loud talk, long talks, wild talk, and talk full of anger and hate; all these affect the health of man. Why is silence said to be golden? The silent man has no enemies, though he may not have friends. He has the leisure and the chance to delve within himself and examine his own faults and failings. He has no more inclination to seek them (fault) in others.
faith guard guide until victory
Have faith in Him; He will never give you up; He will guard and guide you until victory is won.
alert guard protects sleeps vigilant
May the alert and the watchful divinities guard thee, may he that sleeps not and nods not guard thee, may he that protects and is vigilant guard thee!
alert awake both guardians thy
The two sages Alert and Watchful, the sleepless and the vigilant, these two guardians of thy life's breath, are awake both day and night.
dust guardian holds lovely scatter soon trees
As dust a steed did she, as soon as she was born, scatter these people, that dwelt upon the earth, she the lovely one, the leader, the guardian of the world, that holds the trees and plants.

They shall guard thee, they shall protect thee. Reverence be to them. Hail be to them!

God protects the virtuous ones and fulfill their wishes. He guides us, just like a guardian and prevents us from going astray.

A miser, unwilling to spend his money, fails to utilize his wealth properly. His mind is occupied by nothing but only one thought-how to preserve his wealth. To ensure the safety of his wealth, he spends most of his time worrying about the means to guard it. Thus,he becomes lethargic.
appearance external inherent multiple powers principle
The Principle of Appearance that deludes as multiple manifestation is Maya. It is not external to God; it is inherent in God, just as all Powers are inherent in Him.
armies conquer shall sun wise
These wise armies of the gods, having the sun as their ensign, shall conquer our enemies! Hail!
attachment divinity love mind reason simply weakness
THE selfishness fouling your love is veiling divinity from your vision. What is the reason for the selfishness which is veiling divinity from us? It is simply our attachment to the body; It is the weakness of our mind and our enslavement to our senses.
creatures honey milk shall together yield
These creatures all together shall yield milk for us; do thou, O earth, give us the honey of speech!
body fails grown life string voice wearing
The string of life is wearing thin, day and night, and you have done nothing for your soul. Doing your deeds, you have grown old; your voice fails you, and your body has become weak.
birth conquest deal escaping eternal grief highest leads learning living means path pleasure realm since studies study type
THE study of the Vedas is the highest type of learning since it leads to the conquest of Death. All other studies deal with the means of living or the surroundings which you have to live; they deal with earning and spending, deriving a little pleasure by this trick, escaping a little grief by that trick. The Vedas show the path to the Realm of Eternal Bliss, where there is no Birth or Death.
