humiliated lost ourselves poise simple team today
It's a team that lost their poise and their composure, simple as that. ... We humiliated ourselves here today and we embarrassed ourselves.
chance chose clearly fighting given good guys hockey lost needed ourselves period players playing poise saw second selfish simple talked team themselves win
It's a team that lost its poise and it's composure, simple as that. We clearly talked about what needed to be done in the second period and if we would have given ourselves a fighting chance by playing even-up hockey, there's a good chance we win the hockey game. We lost our composure, saw some selfish hockey, some undisciplined players and some guys who chose to think of themselves before their teammates.
believe care city define flat good hard honest pride trust ways
When you look at the third- and fourth-line guys, in a lot of ways they define what you want to take pride in and what we believe this city will appreciate, too. Flat out hard work, good honest work, (and) trust and care in each other.
circumstance dictate games good habits manage start
We've got to get back to good habits of how we start our games ... how we manage the circumstances in those first six, eight, 10 minutes. We have to try to dictate the terms.
confidence gave opponents
(Without Jagr) it probably gave our opponents some confidence at least.
attack believe help helped offensive power transition
We believe he can help our power play. We believe we've helped our offensive attack and our transition game.
chance giving hot ourselves ride
We're giving ourselves the chance to ride the hot guy.
anyone complete itself lock regular season team
This team has got itself on the brink. We've got to lock in or we're out of here. We don't want anyone to look at our regular season as a complete illusion.
dice philosophy
We kind of rolled the dice on this philosophy.
beyond certainly consummate deserved far forward games guy hopefully injuries likely moving next retrospect role starts team
To his credit, he's certainly been the consummate team guy and likely in retrospect having even deserved more starts than he's gotten. His injuries have prevented that from happening. These are big games for us moving forward and he'll play a significant role in how far we go here in these next games and hopefully what we do beyond that.
balance felt last minutes stage
We felt the last 20 minutes could set the stage for the balance of the series.
good hung
We hung in with them. That's not good enough. We don't want to 'hang in' with anybody. We want to win.
assess both careful chance putting sure
We're going to be really very, very careful here and make sure that we give him a chance to assess where he is, both psychologically and physically, before we even contemplate putting him back in.
dictate good habits ice manage minutes playing start
Even if we were playing Ottawa, we need a good start. We need good starts. We need to get back to good habits about how we start our games. How we manage the puck, how we manage the ice those first six, eight, 10 minutes is important. And we have to dictate the terms.
