developed emotions good guys human mixed relationships
There are still mixed emotions. Everything I've done as a big leaguer has been with the Reds. I see those guys over there. I'm a human being. I like the guys in the Pirates' clubhouse. They've been good to me. But I developed a lot of relationships over there, too.
doubt great months six
We can do that, that's realistic, no doubt about it. We're only six under .500 now and who would have thought that two months ago. We just keep getting great pitching.
basic driving help hit houston maybe money parking people raising shelter ton
Being in Houston really hit home, because driving by some of those motels, you'd see all the people outside, having barbecues out in the parking lot - there were a ton of people, ... Maybe raising money will help get these people food, water, shelter - just basic necessities, really.
deal good guys half job pinch playing size tried
Size was a big deal for them, especially with their big guys playing like they did. We tried to pinch them in on the ends, but that didn't work. We didn't do a good job of that in the first half and that was the game.
board kids member school sold
The kids really sold that vote, more than any adult, any administrator or any school board member who was there, in my opinion.
came fans looking understand
The fans came here excited, but we didn't give them what they were looking for. I understand their reaction.
aside cross few focus game job nerves realize stuff
I have to realize when you get all the stuff out of the way that when I cross the lines, I have a job to do. Hopefully, I'm able to put my nerves aside and just focus on the game and get a few hits.
ball catcher good leaning memory reaching seeing waking
I have no memory of it, nothing between reaching for the ball ... and then waking up and seeing (Reds catcher Jason) LaRue leaning over me, which wasn't a good sight.
baseman doubt future
He's the first baseman of the future here. No doubt about it.
dominating guys league reason special
He's one of those special guys in the league with dominating stuff. It's the reason why Houston's back in the race.
adds bit bucks encourages hopefully pay people
Hopefully it encourages people to give what they can. Obviously, our day's pay is a little bit more than everyone else's, but if you can give 10 or 20 bucks here and there, that adds up.
both happening kept strange teams
In that kind of game, you don't know what's going to happen. Strange things kept happening and both teams kept getting out of it, but in the 10th we just couldn't get out of it.
ready
And here I am, getting ready to go play a game,
eyes sadness
You could see the sadness in their eyes,
