death great honest played purpose saying scared win
They played with great purpose and passion. I was scared to death of them, to be honest with you. In saying that, I still thought we were going to win the game.
jump next saying strides
They're a top-ranked defense, but they didn't show it today. I'm not saying that they're not very good, but they just didn't show it today. We had our way with them from the first jump to the end of the whistle. ... We made some strides for next year.
great group kids took
They're an unbelievable group of kids that took me for a great ride.
basketball best focused talked
It was our best basketball of the year. We talked about being focused for 40 minutes.
half job playing possession second
It was the most frustrating half I've ever coached. They had to play every possession, and I think we did a much better job playing every possession in the second half.
freshmen gained health michael nearly rest tyler
It was really frustrating because I think the freshmen particularly could have gained so, so much. For example, I think Tyler and Michael did. But the rest of them didn't gain nearly as much as they could have because of the health situation.
catch coming defensive forcing intensity key loss night playing tough
It was a tough night for Asheville to catch us, coming off that loss and playing the way we did. I really thought the whole key was our defensive intensity and forcing turnovers.
breakdown practice total
It was a total breakdown of what we like to think we practice every day. Very, very disappointing afternoon.
backing counter instead runs soft
It was a sensational day for us. When they made their runs we were able to counter instead of being soft and backing off and being tentative.
kids understand
It was important for me to get the kids to understand that hey, we're all right.
case defensive extremely felt five game good hard last needed negative player playing three
Then the other thing is that Wes has been playing so hard. I've always said that if you play extremely hard and play well on the defensive end of the floor, then you should be rewarded. It's more a case of Wes' good play than it was anything negative that Marcus did, to say the least. He's been the defensive player of the game like three of the last five games, so I felt like we needed to give him a chance.
build came defense great helps offense playing
That's a big steppingstone for us. It helps our confidence. Our defense is playing real well, and our offense came through when it had to. It's a great win. It's something we can build on.
blowing carolina game james madison north understand won
They understand the competitiveness you have to have. I told them that, in 1982, North Carolina won the championship and we won the first game by blowing out James Madison 52-50.
bunch confident country edge felt hope team win
We were a pretty confident bunch beforehand. I think I'm confident. I hope it's not over the edge of cockiness, but I told them I felt like we were the only team in this country that could come in here and win this game.
