His career record stands at 1373-702-2. He currently ranks 9th on the all-time wins list nationally for 10+ year Division I coaches. His teams won five SEC...
umpires
Umpires are umpires, but he (Smith) was just incompetent.
ourselves week
This week will be a big test. We'll know a lot more about ourselves after this week.
call few good pitching played weeks
We've played good teams, but give me a call in a few weeks and I'll let you know how our pitching is.
kids lights playing surface
But Smith-Wills has done everything we asked, put a new playing surface in, put new lights in, but it's an old facility. That's fine. It's not bad. It's old. You know how kids are, they want better facilities.
bad games good home start won
The good part is that we've won 11 games to start the season. The bad part is, they were all home games.
counting matter nature
It was a matter of time. It's the nature of the game, on the road, in the Southeastern Conference. I think when we had a 6-3 lead, (players) were counting the 19th victory.
atmosphere football line sidelines state
It was like a football atmosphere out there. I thought it was the 50-yard line on the sidelines of an Ole Miss-Mississippi State football game.
concerned everybody mention nice team wants
It's nice to be 15-0, but that 1985 team was pretty good. Everybody wants to mention our start, but we're just concerned with winning.
matter runs score together trying
It's just a matter of trying to put the lineup together and score some runs like we did (in a 17-run outburst Saturday).
baseball people pick poll
It's early. But if I had to pick one poll for us to be No. 1 in, I'd pick Baseball America. Those people really know what they're doing.
great happy rather streak trade
It's a great streak, it's legitimate, and I'm happy for Thomas. But I know he'd rather trade the streak for a win.
fine practice ready team tennessee
Tomorrow, we'll practice, but it won't be a long practice. Then, we'll get ready for a fine Tennessee team this weekend.
athletic ballpark directors game gonna good great handle people
We're going to play the game somewhere. I'll let the athletic directors handle that. I ain't gonna tell you Smith-Wills is a better ballpark than the new one, but it's been good to us over the years. They've done everything we've asked. They put in a new (playing surface), they put in new lights. I think it's been great for the people down there.
best counting invincible
When we had the 6-3 lead, they were counting the 19th victory. They thought they were the best, and they're still the best in my mind. But they thought they were invincible, maybe. But no one is invincible in sports.
