closer confidence felt further good hope playing score season
It was a little closer than the score indicates, but I felt it was a good first match. I'm playing with a lot of confidence right now after this season and I hope I can go a lot further in this tournament.
close french good lost mary open played run
I can feel it happening. I (could) tell after I lost in the French Open to Mary Pierce. She had an unbelievable run and I played close. But close is not good enough for me. I want to get to a final.
fight focus good run second
She had a pretty good run in the second set and I really had to fight back and focus on every point,
fight focus good happy next ready run second turned
It was really tough. She had a pretty good run in the second set and I really had to fight back and focus on every point. But I was really happy the way it turned out at the end of the second set and I feel ready for my next opponent.
bit draw event good personally played
Other tournaments are even more important to me personally because I, in the past, have never played really good here. But when I look at the draw and I see how big this event is, I, yeah, am a little bit frustrated.
felt games generally good missing move moving position small steps
I think it was just generally that my footwork was really not good. I just felt uncomfortable moving around the court. I was missing the small steps to really have a good position and move good and come back in the games and to defend. So that was frustrating that I never got better.
good move
I think just generally, my footwork was really not good and it was uncomfortable to move around the court.
advantage feeling final maybe serve struggled three
I'm very disappointed, the way the whole final went. I was never really feeling my game. My serve was not really there, and also maybe she struggled for two, three games, but I could not really take advantage of it.
asking pace speed umpire
I know that she does it and that's her way. I was not too much asking the umpire to speed things up because I know it's her way, but still, I think on the serve, you should go with the pace of the server.
break either knew mixed
I knew if I mixed it up, like either her forehand or backhand it could break down a little bit. That's what happened.
excited five leave matches nice row starting year
I'm really excited about starting the year like this. It's always nice to play five matches in a row like this and leave a place as a champion.
cannot maybe percent played point work worse
I just cannot play on this surface. I play maybe 50 percent worse on hard, ... I just played for every point but it did not work at the beginning.
competing forward looking los playing
I'm playing well and looking forward to competing in Los Angeles.
crowd happy point support
I'm very happy to be in the semis, ... I told the crowd 'please support me from the first point on tomorrow.'
