My focus is on trying to get our players in the best position we can to have an opportunity to be successful. The other stuff is pretty minor.
Nobody ever said this team wasn't tough. Look at that, it took two teams to eliminate us from the playoffs.
Maybe this guy (Denney) won't mess up twice in a year after he's done it in 10 years, ... But if we were to cut this guy, he would have gotten claimed. And if you watch him snap you would feel the same way. We're not going to second-guess anything that we did.
We need to make sure we have an adequate backup at that position. We're trying to work through that right now, either with the players we have on our team or some who are available in free agency.
There are times when we are getting an outstanding performance from the running back. There are times when we are getting a hat on a hat to finish a block. We just have to do it more consistently. ... It's just a matter of execution on a more consistent basis from the entire unit.
There are lots of players who have had this injury. There are lots of players who come back and play from this injury, and they actually come back to full mobility and full speed.
I felt like Ricky Williams played well. He didn't have many opportunities to do much, because he didn't have much space.
What people do on the field is kind of your calling card in terms of the quality of work. When he was a defensive coordinator at Jacksonville and Pittsburgh, they did some pretty quality work. They had top-line defensive teams. He did it in different situations featuring different types of players. That will be helpful to us.
What is is and what's now is now and we're going with what we've got.
We go in and had the same situation because of our turnover (Brown had fumbled on the preceding possession), and make a sack and get a turnover. It doesn't get any bigger than that.
We gave him the work we thought he could handle. Do I think he got enough work in the preseason to be ready for the first game? I didn't make the decision to come to practice when he came to practice. We did the best we could under the circumstances.
We want to pick the quarterback that's going to give us the best opportunity to win. I'm not prepared after watching that game to make a statement about that.
We want to duplicate enthusiasm and team energy,
There are good players at every spot. Including 16.
