hitter lately noticed seventh sit throughout winning
He's going to be a 3, 4, 5 hitter throughout his career. He's not going to sit in the seventh spot. And I don't know if you've noticed lately but we haven't been winning too many games, so something's broke.
almost
He's fine. Right now, it's almost as if nothing happened.
along ben piece sheets starting three
He's been an important piece to our starting rotation, along with Ben Sheets and Doug Davis. They've really solidified the first three starting spots.
asked defense hard played worked
He's done everything we've asked him to. He's worked very hard on his defense and played very well defensively.
ball fastball good job keeping quick throws
He's done a good job keeping the ball in the zone. He has had short, quick innings. He throws that knuckleball, and then he throws an 83-mph fastball and jams good hitters. He's got some weapons.
good nervous time today
He's doing much better today than yesterday. We were going to be nervous if he wasn't. (Friday), every time he moved, it would spasm up. It's not doing that. That's a good sign.
guy situation
He's doing everything right now. I don't think there's a guy I'd more want to see up there in that situation than Carlos.
ended work
When they got the big inning in the third, it ended up costing us the game. That's something we'll work on all year.
chance given goal hudson less runs three today
Hudson is 83-4 when given a four-run lead. Our goal today was to keep it to three runs or less to give us a chance to win.
faced good last rodriguez time
Rodriguez was really good today. The last time we faced him he was just OK.
abuse counts gotten guys money pitch protect
Pitch counts have gotten into everybody's brain. Guys make so much money now. You want to protect your investment. You don't want to abuse your pitchers.
anybody calling contend labeled last loser louis past playing rather tired trying winning
Playing .500 is the first step. Eventually, we're trying to get to where we can contend with St. Louis for the division. I'd rather have a winning record. We're tired of being labeled a loser for the last 12 years. We want to get past that. We don't want anybody calling us a loser again.
definitely gave good happen job nice opportunity rick seven strong three
Really, we had three pretty good games. Rick Helling definitely gave us that opportunity for that to happen today. He had seven real strong innings. He has done a real nice job with his opportunities.
easily errors number throwing
He's growing, he's learning, he's trying. He's going to make mistakes. His fielding is improving. You look at the number of errors he has made and how many of them have been throwing errors? Those things are easily fixed.
