changed control hard nobody ohio played playing pressure state tempo throw trouble
We thought if we get control of the game, Ohio State would have trouble playing from behind, but they played very well from behind. Nobody ever would have thought they would throw for that kind of yardage, but they changed the tempo of the game, they made it very hard for us to pressure the quarterback.
both excellent game lose particular playing program season team teams terms tradition win
I think it's a game that in terms of the tradition of this program is the most important game that we play. I think for any team playing in it, it's a big game. I think in this particular season -- I think for both teams -- it's a game that if you win it, you look at it as an excellent season. If you lose it, it's probably a disappointing season.
challenge clear difficult embrace evaluate excellent excited exposure greatest matt playing program strength trying whether
His greatest strength is that he's smart, ... The most difficult part about trying to evaluate quarterbacks is determining whether or not they'll be able to embrace the pressure. Matt comes from an excellent background. He's been in a high-school program that had more exposure than any program in the country. He made it very clear he was excited about the challenge of playing in a program like this.
expect football game mistakes red win
We just made too many mistakes in the red zone. You can't get the football down there and give it away like we did and expect to win a game like this.
effort fight football found good liked lost offensive standpoint talented took
We lost a football game, but I think we found a defense. I liked the way we played, from a standpoint of effort and aggressiveness. I thought we were very physical. I thought we took the fight to Notre Dame. They're a very talented offensive football team. (But) there's nothing good about losing. Nothing.
football found lost
We lost a football game, but I think we found a defense.
leave
It was a long night, leave it that way.
both changes hopefully sides unfold
There will be significant changes on both sides of the ball. That will unfold in the fall, and hopefully it will be obvious. The most important thing is it translates into performance.
good plays poor progress throws
Being a quarterback is a process. And I think he made a lot of progress. I think he made some very good throws out there today, then he had some very poor plays that he'd like to have back.
everybody resolute season turn
Everybody is disappointed. And yet everybody is resolute to try to do the things we need to do to turn the season around.
anybody football goals good happened lost program stage teams unless
Every program has goals and you have to decide, do you still have the same goals, because when you look around at what's happened in the first two weeks, a lot of very good football teams have lost. I don't think at this stage anybody is out of anything unless you've lost two games.
certainly hart looking mike played somebody week
We should have played Grady, and we're going to play somebody else this week because, simply, it's too much to play Mike Hart every down like we did in that game. Looking back on it, that's certainly something I would have done different.
athlete field finest
Vince Young is the finest athlete I've ever been on the field with.
changes sit type watch
There's going to be some changes in the lineup because we're not going to sit and watch that type of effort.
