If we can swing the bat and be particular about what pitches to swing at, and be patient and stuff like that, I think we can put some pressure on some people. You look at the numbers these guys put over through the course of the year, there's no easy out in there. That makes it tough on everybody.

I don't even like to talk about this business about an ethnic and racial balancing act. I think it's a bunch of hokum. What people are concerned about is who is going to help this city move forward in a manner that benefits their families. They don't care about Adolfo being Hispanic, although that's obvious. They want to know if I will do a good job.

Right now, I don't have any emotions. I thought when I first won, I'd be jumping to the moon. But it's like it hasn't sunk in yet.

Poor performance hasn't tarnished the funds' image. It's still the right acquisition for the right buyer.

Pops won't decide. He has been at DEI a long time so it's hard for him to just up and leave. But at the same time he wants me to succeed with this, so it's hard for him to decide what he wants to do.
