defense gives maybe mind takes
What's most important is that the quarterback takes what the defense gives and not make up his mind before maybe which it's going to be,
goes great guys left legacy ohio people pride sure talk
When guys come back for reunions, they talk about the guy that made the big play in the Ohio State-Michigan game, ... That's just the legacy that's left and I'm sure the same thing goes up there when people come back and talk about the great pride they have in their program.
ball catching great guys huge job nine plus return somebody starting teddy tone
Our punt return game, those guys have done a great job up front, plus Tone (Holmes) and Teddy (Ginn Jr.) back in the back. Somebody told me (the Aztecs) had nine three-and-outs. When they're starting with the ball on their 11 and they're having a three-and-out, and our punt-returners are catching the ball around midfield, that's huge for the offense.
focused front guys happy hard proved watched work
All of our guys are happy that we've got that guy. They've watched how hard he's focused this spring, they've watched the work that he's done. He proved that in front of 63,000 going down (the field) on that first drive.
bit bracket changed coverage discount games importance momentum needs ran tied unnoticed watched
A lot of the games I've watched over the years, the unnoticed things are that 3rd-and-7 play where there's bracket coverage and everyone was tied up, and that quarterback ran for a first down and changed the momentum of the game. So we don't discount the importance of that, but you have to do things in progression. I just think Troy needs to be a little bit better from his progression standpoint.
good recognize seen ten
They're good (defensively). Historically they've been good. I think most of us in the Big Ten recognize that. They're good and they've seen everything. They're experienced and they're good players.
stand starting
As we stand right now, yeah, I'd say we have two starting quarterbacks.
college extremely forward great history move playing programs rolling
As we move forward to play Texas, we don't need to say much more than we're playing Texas, one of the great programs in the history of college football. They've got things rolling there right now extremely well.
coming defense kept kids offense played plays second stepped
As you could see, our kids played hard. Every second is important. Our defense kept coming after them. Our offense made some big plays and they stepped up and made those big plays.
across against bit consistency discuss downs lack likes moment playing points start talk ten three work yards
Absolutely. I think the consistency, or lack thereof -- where we are at this moment is not where you'd like to be after three games. We haven't done little things across the board. Everyone likes to discuss what we haven't done at quarterback, but we could talk a little bit about all the way down the line, where we need to get a lot better. We need to get a lot better fast, because when you start playing against the Big Ten defenses, yards and first downs and points are even more difficult. So we've got a lot of work to do and we've just got to get at it.
affect guess jersey lined name reading sanitary term
As long as it's sanitary and doesn't affect reading (a player's) name on his jersey ... We use the term 'lined up.' Like Mangold's beard, it's lined up. It's not scraggly. I guess that's our rule.
formula heard relentless special superior
You've heard our formula many times. You ... need superior special units, relentless defense, mistake-free and opportunistic offense.
guessing needs people sit team
You sit down and say, 'OK, what is it that our team needs right now?' It's not like we're guessing on people who haven't been around for a long time.
based best grueling guess hard league people stadiums sure teams type walk
You never know for sure in the preseason how teams are going to be. You can make your best guess based on the people that are returning, and that type of thing. But the thing about the Big Ten, we play a grueling out-of-conference schedule. And then, when you get into the league and you go into those opposing stadiums, it's hard to win. Our stadiums are incredible. It's like you're already down by a touchdown when you walk in the door.
