gone good impressed players tough
I've always been impressed with what he's able to do. He's just gone through some tough times. Some players do and some players don't. I think those tough times are good for him.
beginning bit figure matter players playing ready taken
We have a little bit of stability, more so than the beginning of the year, so we have a better idea of how to play with each other. But it has taken us a little while to figure that out. Our players have to know who we are playing against, and they have to be ready to play no matter what.
opportunity players upset veteran
I was more disappointed in our veteran players. You know, you can be upset with the young players ? but some of them haven't had an opportunity to be on the floor.
ability gives good players report scout scouting teams tend tremendous
It gives him a tremendous advantage, because good players have the ability to do different things. Teams can scout you, but that scouting report doesn't do you much good if you tend to play (defense) just one way.
best players three
Our three best players . . . were like 8-for-22.
asking best bit cause deal great harsh hold karl players policy tendency work
I'm not asking them to be Karl Malone, but I think I have a right to hold players accountable. If I do that, then I'm being a little bit too harsh on them at times. But we have a tendency to think that no work is the best policy and that will cause you a great deal of trouble.
bit excited guys players playing pulling weeks
These guys are excited about winning. They're excited about playing and pulling for each other. We didn't have that two weeks ago. We didn't have all our players (because of injury). Now we have a little bit of an idea of when our guys will play. Before it was potluck.
execute quarter running second
We just got annihilated. We had one quarter in which we executed and that was the second quarter. When we don't execute our offense, we don't get anything. We were just running around out there.
block boards guys missing second shots sort trying understand win
I understand guys missing shots and that sort of thing. But I don't understand not being able to block them off the boards and give them second shots right when we're trying to win a ballgame.
farther game kept matter next people step team year
People think it's pretty easy, but it's pretty difficult. A year ago, this team just kept going farther and farther down. They didn't step up and try to make a change. We were 11-21, I think, a year ago and the next game didn't matter probably.
commitment common drive everybody felt man missing outside presence shot stay talked team whatsoever worried
Everybody you talked to about our team would tell you we had no presence whatsoever inside. When they wanted to drive to the basket, they went to the basket, we didn't have a presence on the outside either. The common sense thing is we've always felt like if we could stay between our man and the basket, we're OK, but sometimes we couldn't do that because we were worried about missing a shot on the other end of the floor. There has to be a commitment to do that.
feeling guys head love seeing shake shaking soon sorry team whip whipped
As soon as you whip yourself but shaking your head and feeling sorry for yourself, you're a whipped pup. I'm sorry, but that's the way it is. Guys on the other team love seeing that. They love to see you shake your head and say, 'Oh my goodness, now what am I going to do?'
competing finishing hanging
We are still hanging in there, competing and finishing to the end.
basket front half huge job letting staying top
We did a better job of staying in front of them and not letting them get on top of the basket every time. And that was a huge thing because the first half was atrocious.
