determined earn feels good knew playoff point positives spot team third tonight
To come back in the third period, earn a point and clinch a playoff spot . . . there's some positives from tonight but it never feels good losing. They were a very hungry, very determined team tonight but we knew they would be.
biggest canada coming great hockey lead team
He's a big part of Hockey Canada, he's probably the biggest part, and it's great that he's coming over to lead our team again.
checks club finish hits hopefully key represents smaller sure wear
He's a big key to their club and he represents a lot of their speed. We try to make sure we all finish our checks on him . . . even the smaller hits, hopefully we wear him down a little. The more hits we can get on him the better.
ahead nobody room
But we know it's going to be tough, nobody in our room is getting ahead of it.
good home road start
But we can improve. It was not a good road trip, but it's good to come home and start over with the home opener.
close enter game great hear learning side team winning
Learning to play in big games, Game 7 and Game 6, all of it is a whole different level. It's different hockey, it's great hockey. On the other side of it, we were that close (to winning the Cup), (so) we're hungry. To get that close and hear the other team celebrating, and know it could have been us, that does enter your mind.
cup emotions game happy losing scoreboard stanley
Obviously, we weren't happy with the way the game was going. Emotions get going when you look at the scoreboard and you're losing in the Stanley Cup Finals. And that's what happens.
close fans hear holding hurt imagining sitting time took
When you get that close and then you hear the other team, the other fans celebrating to 'Simply The Best' and 'We Are The Champions', that hurt. It hurt a lot. We didn't know who was holding the Cup, but each time someone else took it, you could hear the fans go nuts. We're just sitting there, soaking all of this in and imagining what it would feel like ... if it was us.
exciting thinking
What's important is to keep going but yeah, we're thinking we want to clinch. But then we want the division. Those are exciting things, for sure, and they're in our sight.
bad close front game single strength style terrible zone
We were terrible in front of (Boucher). It wasn't even close to the style of game we want to play all the way around. It was a terrible game. We were very sloppy. Our strength is in our own zone and every single one of us was bad in our own zone today.
We think we're going to be a really competitive club. But we know it's not going to be easy.
chances creating
We've been creating more chances as a group.
earned period power ready
We weren't as ready as we should be. If we take 'em, we've got to kill penalties. They had pretty much the whole first period in power plays, and they earned that.
came draw good
We came out and had a good start, and were able to draw some penalties.
