I didn't think he was going after hitters, ... He was walking himself into trouble and he was one base hit from blowing the game open.
I didn't even have time to say, 'Uh oh,'
I didn't see the ball come out. I didn't see the replay. I don't want to see it.
He's trying to do a little too much right now.
He throws well enough to win up here. He's got to locate a little better up here to be successful.
He threw the ball well and freely, but he was up with his pitches. He hung a slider. That's going to happen.
He threw strikes, ... He hit the ball around the strike zone. He used all of his pitches today, and he was ahead of the hitters. He made them swing the bat and made pitches to get them out.
He threw free and easy out there. He had some pop on his fastball and was able to throw his breaking ball without any complaint. So physically he was fine.
He's locked in right now. He's hitting the ball to all fields.
He's a professional. He takes the ball. He's not always healthy when he goes out there, but he doesn't complain about it. He just gives you the best he can possibly give you. It was the same way last year, even though we were really trying to protect him with that knee, he still wanted to throw as many innings as he possibly could.
We're not mathematically eliminated, ... But we're in a pretty good hole right now. . . . We still have a chance, and we still keep battling until somebody tells us, 'You're out of it.'
Why put the burden on baseball to try and figure out where to go, and maybe put an asterisk? Just wipe the whole thing out.
To me that isn't arguing balls and strikes, is it?
You have good results when you have good at-bats. And we had a lot of good at-bats tonight. Everybody chipped in.
