base basics hopefully keeping low nice ready sound staying telling work
He's been telling me little things about staying low and keeping a nice little base when I'm ready to throw. We're kind of doing the basics right now, and hopefully we can work our way up to where I can be just as fundamentally sound as he was.
brought demeanor passion similar
He's got the same kind of passion I have. We're kind of similar in a lot of ways. That's why I think that's what brought us together, the demeanor that we have to get better, the competitive edge.
messing playing stir team trying
If we were playing a team that wasn't in it we'd still want to win. I don't want to say we like messing up their plans. I'm not trying to stir up nothing on the other side.
fits knows needs
He knows what's what and what he needs to do. He just has the mind-set to be a real professional and business-like and to find where he fits in.
bases everybody figure hit home runs
Stealing bases is just something I like to do. I figure if I can hit home runs and steal bases, I'd be different than everybody else.
attention bags happen holding paying pitchers runners slide step
That's a lot of bags. That will never happen again. Pitchers are holding runners on way better. They're paying a lot of attention to us with slide step and all. I don't think anybody's going to get 100 bags (in a season) again.
guys half honest jobs next second trying year
I just think the second half came. Guys were trying to put up numbers, to be honest with you. Guys trying to get jobs for next year and play well so they can try to solidify their place in the lineup for next year, pretty much. That's what had a big thing to do with the way we started playing.
catch front home numbers pitches pull runs selective somebody teach trying
I'm trying to be more selective and getting pitches to drive. I'm also trying to catch pitches out front more, ... Once I have somebody teach how to do that consistently, I won't have to pull my home runs all the time. And that's when my numbers will go up more.
came games happen matter whoever
It was just one of those games. It didn't matter what (Waechter) did. The way they came out, it was going to happen to whoever pitched.
bone bruise definitely fine found four game gotten months patient season six start takes wait wind
Once I found out it was a bone bruise and it takes four to six months to heal, then I was fine with that. It's only been four months, and it's definitely gotten better. ... I just have to be patient and wait for it to heal. I mean, if the season was going to start today, I'd wind up playing. It's not one of those things where I'm going to be out. If we had to play a game today, I'd be ready.
finally handled hard impressed inspired saying stayed worked
He stayed in there and worked hard and finally got his shot, that's what inspired me. I was impressed with the way he handled his whole situation. Never complaining about stuff, never saying if this would have went this way, this would have happened. He said this is the way it is.
best cool fine guy listen needed roll
He's stressing the little things this year. It's fine with me because I needed to put that into my game. Joe's the kind of guy that he's cool enough that if he suggests something, then you listen and roll with it because you know it's best for the team.
liked
I don't know. I was in the clubhouse. I would have liked to been there.
almost swinging
He almost got me, he just missed. So that's why I say I wouldn't have been swinging anyway.
