It does give Kevin (Towers) a lot more flexibility. These aren't long-term deals, but they're good players. When you sign veteran players, (it means) you don't have someone in your system who's able to fill that void. Some of the catchers we think a lot of aren't quite ready.

I tell you, that's one of the prettiest sights you can see. When you're down and they're scoring every inning there, then we get the big blow there, it doesn't get better than that, to clutch up like Ramon did tonight.

I think he's still feeling the effects from the broken toe. I don't think he's fully recovered; he's trying to find his swing right now. That's why I want to give him a couple of days off to clear his mind.

You have to fill some holes each year. Next year will be a different club, too. Ideally, you want to have guys come up through your system, but in the meantime, you want to continue to have winning seasons. What we're trying to do is build some consistency.
