THE river of human life meanders along, through many a valley, leaps over many a cliff, loses itself in many a marsh and seeks to empty itself in the ocean of Divine Grace; though, what happens is that it falls into the undrinkable expanse of salt.
affect anger armour chance examine faults full guards health himself leisure loud man seek silence silent talk though tongue wild within
THE tongue is the armour of heart; it guards one's life. Loud talk, long talks, wild talk, and talk full of anger and hate; all these affect the health of man. Why is silence said to be golden? The silent man has no enemies, though he may not have friends. He has the leisure and the chance to delve within himself and examine his own faults and failings. He has no more inclination to seek them (fault) in others.
forgive lord please save seeks servant unite
O Lord God, You are the One and Only Giver; You forgive us, and unite us with Yourself. Servant Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary; if it is Your Will, please save him!
constant efforts lead path seek self
One should always make constant efforts to seek such a Guru, who can lead him to the path of self-realization.
defeat defy foe grow inner leaving outer rulers seek shall striking win winning
Let us not seek the outer empire; let us become the rulers of the inner empire. Let us not try to defy the outer enemy, leaving the inner foe to grow in striking power. We have Krishna with us, and so, who can defeat us? We shall win through winning His Grace.
carried hopes sanctuary seek society
Those who seek their Sanctuary are carried across; in the Society of the Saints, their hopes are fulfilled.
becomes lord sanctuary seek treasure
When selfishness is gone, then one becomes the Lord Himself; seek the Sanctuary of the treasure of mercy.
birth knock knowing man meaning means receiving seek seldom wanders
Naturally, man has to seek all means of discovering the meaning of Life, for without knowing it, he is lost; he wanders from birth to birth, receiving knock after knock and is seldom the better for all the experience.
deal ear errors good hear mistakes seek
Never seek to exult over others' faults; deal sympathetically with the errors and mistakes of others; hear only good things about them; and do not give an ear to scandals.
ears evil eyes hands minds seek tongue
Your eyes should not seek evil sights; your ears should not seek evil tales; your tongue should not seek evil speech; your hands should not seek evil acts; your minds should not seek evil thoughts.
mind prime sanctuary seek
I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord's Prime Minister; beholding Him, my mind is comforted and consoled.
bless glance merciful please protect seek
Please protect me here and hereafter, O Lord, Merciful to the meek. I seek Your Sanctuary; please bless me with Your Glance of Grace.
clever dark deep lift lord please seek tricks
Please be kind and compassionate, O Lord of my life; I am helpless, and I seek Your Sanctuary, God. Please, give me Your Hand, and lift me up, out of the deep dark pit. I have no clever tricks at all.
