blows dogs looks thou wind women
The wind blows not over the earth. No one looks on. Do thou then, befriended of Indra, put all women and dogs to sleep!
agreeable bend bring lord mind side thou thy towards turn
Bring hither by thy shouts, O lord of wealth, the suitor, bend his mind towards her; turn thou the right side of every agreeable suitor towards (her)!
art best hair man plants thou turn wears
As the best of the plants thou art reputed, O herb, turn this man for me to-day into a eunuch that wears his hair dressed!
burning burns fire jealousy thou various
As if a fire is burning him, as if the forest-fire burns in various directions, this jealousy of his do thou quench, as a fire (is quenched) with water!
conquer hail shall thou win
Do thou win here, do thou conquer here, overcome, win, hail! These here shall conquer, those yonder be conquered! Hail to these here, perdition to those yonder!
affect anger armour chance examine faults full guards health himself leisure loud man seek silence silent talk though tongue wild within
THE tongue is the armour of heart; it guards one's life. Loud talk, long talks, wild talk, and talk full of anger and hate; all these affect the health of man. Why is silence said to be golden? The silent man has no enemies, though he may not have friends. He has the leisure and the chance to delve within himself and examine his own faults and failings. He has no more inclination to seek them (fault) in others.
beings binds deeds eyes hearts love seen soft thoughts vast
Love binds all hearts in a soft silken symphony. Seen through the eyes of Love, all beings are beautiful; all deeds are dedicated; and all thoughts are innocent. The World is one vast kin.
happiness heaven kindly mother thou wise
O mother earth, kindly set me down upon a well-founded place! With (father) heaven cooperating, O thou wise one, do thou place me into happiness and prosperity!
bless energy thou
May thou bless me with radiance, courage, energy and strength.
clothes humans hundred protector thou wear
Wear this attire for your own welfare! Thou are the protector of humans from destruction! May you live like this for one hundred years 'weaving' the clothes of 'Wealth' and 'Nourishment'!
across art beyond captive haunts shall thee thou whether
Whether thou art beyond the haunts of men, or whether across the river, this very herb, as if a captive bound, shall bring, thee back to me!
clash engage follow friction ideals mutual ourselves scholars society therefore thoughts understanding unity virtuous
Unity can only come when there is better co-ordination and mutual understanding in the society; when there is no friction of thoughts and clash of ideologies. We should therefore follow the ideals established by the scholars and engage ourselves in virtuous deeds.
art born dig full honey plant thou
This plant is born of honey, with honey do we dig for thee. Of honey thou art begotten, do thou make us full of honey!
aid bull folks horns mighty rose thousand
The bull with a thousand horns who rose out of the sea, with the aid of him, the mighty one, do we put the folks to sleep.
