Annika Sörenstam; born 9 October 1970) is a retired Swedish professional golfer, one of the most successful female golfers in history. Before stepping away from competitive golf at the end of the 2008 season, she had won 90 international tournaments as a professional, making her the female golfer with the most wins to her name. I've been on vacation for two weeks. I feel very relaxed. I've had a chance to practice quite a bit the last two days. I needed a break, but now I feel good again, so I'm looking forward to a great week.

They always have a great field in Phoenix. That's what makes it one of the best tournaments on the tour. I have some wonderful memories from playing in Phoenix, and certainly winning the last two at Superstition Mountain are included, so I'm looking forward to coming back.

Michelle is very, very talented, ... She is a great asset to golf. I welcome her. The bottom line is, I'm a competitor. I will have my game do the talking. I think it has for the last 10 years, and I will continue to do it that way.

It doesn't bother me. I think it's great we're getting more attention. If I couldn't get the attention, I'm glad Michelle can get it. I'm just happy to be a part of it. I know what I've achieved. I know the records that I have set, and nobody can take those away.

I'm in a little bit of a different position than last year, but having said that, I think I'm in great shape for tomorrow. It seems like I like this golf course. I'm going to go out and enjoy it tomorrow as well.

To come here with high expectations to defend a title is always tough, but I thought I played really well and I'm very happy about that. This is a great event to start out the season.

She's got talent. She can really hit the ball. She's got a great head on her shoulders. She's really strong and her attitude is really something great.

She is one of the pioneers from Sweden, and I think she is not just a great role model for myself but for a lot of youngsters at home. She is a first-class lady, so for me to be here and her as my partner, it is a great honor.

My front 9 was not very pretty. I hit some great iron shots, but my tee shots were not that great.

I'm a little disappointed about the outcome, ... It was so, so close. But the U.S. team played some great golf.

I finished with a birdie, so I think I'll leave this place with a smile, ... This was the first time I played here in the morning. The greens were a lot smoother and in great shape. It's too bad I had only four holes (to play Monday).
